We don’t assume every cooling problem needs more gas. The technician checks the unit first, explains what they found, and confirms the cost of the fix before starting work. If it turns out to be a minor repair, you pay for a minor repair.

Low refrigerant can cause poor cooling, but so can dirty coils, a failing capacitor or a compressor problem. Topping up gas on an AC that has another fault won’t solve it, and if gas is repeatedly low, a leak is a possible cause worth checking.
Ask the technician to explain why gas is needed before you agree to it. An honest diagnosis protects you from paying for gas your AC didn’t need.
